Kindle Fire Welcome-Screen Ads for $600K | Wired.com

I like the idea of making an e-reader more available to people with lower incomes, and advertising can make this possible. But still, having a company that makes the consumer feel as if it’s beholden to purchase their eBooks from their company after purchasing their product then having them view advertisements doesn’t sit well with me. I probably wouldn’t mind it so much if it was an e-reader that wasn’t attached to a bookstore, but not a product like Kindle Fire, which makes me feel like Amazon has get every penny they can. Yes, it felt like greed the first time and still feels that way.
