Windows 8.1 Update 1 shows signs of a Metro and desktop merge

So it seems that Micrtosoft is looking for a way to merge the mobile Windows environment (Metro) with the desktop inWindows 9. I guess they realize that people don’t like the idea of switching from one environment to another to do what they need.

I always thought Microsoft was looking to ditch the old look and feel of Windows for the Metro design, but now I’m not sure. What I don’t understand is why they don;t just stick a Start button on the bottom left of the Metro design.
